2020: Will You Help Us Get New York Back on Track?

Picture
The past several months have taken an immeasurable toll on communities and businesses throughout our state.

Instead of working to make things easier on families, taxpayers and law-abiding citizens, New York’s One Party Rule has only made things harder on the communities I represent.

That's why I need your help.

I’m respectfully asking for your support as we take this fight to the State Capitol by donating $5, $10, $25 or whatever you feel is appropriate so I can continue bringing one unified message to those in power in Albany.

Whether it was confusing and contradictory executive orders that put the lives of countless nursing home residents at risk, arbitrary and continuous changes to reopening regulations, constant finger pointing from politicians looking to blame the federal government, or a broken and unresponsive unemployment system, New York State took a bad situation and somehow made it worse.

Despite these failures in Albany, my team and I have worked hard every day throughout the past few months to fight for the needs of the people I represent in the 52nd Senate District.
  • We’ve been on the clock 7 days a week working on hundreds of local unemployment insurance cases for residents unable to navigate New York’s broken system.
  • We stood up and spoke out whenever Albany tried to trample on the needs of upstate communities, from threatening to forcefully take ventilators, making last minute changes to confuse and confound local reopening plans, or arbitrarily curtailing graduation ceremonies for families while ignoring safety concerns caused by mass protests.
  • We also repeatedly introduced legislative measures to curtail the Governor’s overreaching executive powers, only to be shut down by the Democrat-led Senate Majority.

New York State has incredible challenges ahead, but perhaps our biggest challenge is our own state government.
  • Long before the COVID-19 lockdown brought our state’s economy to a standstill, One Party Rule had already racked up a $6 billion dollar deficit, and the pandemic has more than doubled that deficit in a few short months.
  • Long before our citizens were forced to stay indoors, One Party Rule forced violent criminals back on the streets through their disastrous bail reform changes.
  • Now, as our communities finally begin to reopen, recover and restart our economy, One Party Rule is proposing unilateral policies to defund and dismantle the same police departments charged with keeping our communities safe.
We can and must do better as a state, but that starts with restoring balance in state government.

Until then, I’ll continue to be a loud an energetic voice for the communities I represent in Broome, Tioga, Chenango and Delaware counties.

Please know that I’ll continue to fight against these misguided policies so that our upstate families can focus on rebuilding our economy and recovering our livelihoods.

You’ll always have a tireless advocate with an ear ready to listen to your needs so long as I am a Senator.

I’d sincerely appreciate your support this year through a contribution of $5, $10 or $25 today.

Sincerely,

Fred Akshar
